Savor and Celebrate the Mexican Food History


Since tacos, burritos, and chilies do not grow naturally, we know there have been different influences that brought us these different styles of foods.

The earliest food influence came from the ancient Mayans.
A majority of the cuisine did include both gold and beans.
In fact, many of the different sections of Mexico continue to use the traditional recipes that were delivered from the Mayan culture and will create dishes for those visiting with many of the same spices and cooking styles that they were originally presented in.
In addition to these peppers, tortillas and tamales were then introduced and the locals began to create some of the more popular authentic dishes that we enjoy today.
It was also during this time that they discovered a number of different uses for the corn, so it had the chance to continue to grow and thrive in importance, which led to the discovery of other options down the road as well.
Quesadillas, spicy meat dishes and chile rellenos were then introduced during this time.
These menu items blend in with the Tex-Mex cooking ideas that we know today.
For example, a tongue taco might not appeal to as many people as a general shredded beef taco might.
So a dish you might find along the northern border might not even be offered closer to the southern part of the country.
As you study more about the Mexican food history, be sure you take a moment and understand each dish you enjoy, comes from a number of different generations fine tuning their favorite recipes.

Nothing Beats the Taste of Authentic Mexican Food!
Food experts say Americans are acquiring more adventurous tastes, as well as cravings for new flavors and ingredients.

This has been built upon from many diverse cultures.
It also includes flavors from the Mojave and Apache tribes.

Salsa, the Spanish word for sauce, is uncooked and sometimes pureed until chunky, smooth, or chopped.
These are the same core ingredients used in the past.
It is rare to find any Texas style food without one of these accompaniments.
It  varies by region, because of local climate, geography and ethnic differences.
The Southeastern Mexico region, on the other hand, is known for its chicken-based dishes and spicy vegetable.
The ingredients used should be fresh and the toppings should never overwhelm.
This in its essence is very light, very dependent upon chiles and herbs and nuts and spices.

Tortilla chips, margaritas and chili con carne are now well-known around the world.
Tortillas are made by curing maize in lime water and then kneading the mixture into a dough, and cooking the thin patties on a flat grill.

Eating authentic Mexican food is comforting and flavorful on the palate and very fulfilling to the stomach.
